I have a sensor between my 6 and 8 cylinder where the connector has melted from the hest over time. It is a 73 350 engine. I can’t find what sensor it is so I can get a new connector.

A picture of it would help...… Could be a Temperature sensor

Photo? On an 80, there is a plug between 6 and 8 in an L48. In an L82, there is a thermo switch (2 pin) for the aux electric fan. Between 1 and 3 is the temp sender. (1 pin).

What does the sensor look like, what is between 1 and 3, and what engine?

The sensor in the rear of the right side head is the Transmission Control Spark (TCS) Temperature Sensor. The TCS system limits vacuum advance until the car is in normal operating temperatures and in high gear. The TCS Temperature Sensor tells the TCS system when the engine is at the normal operating temp.

Unlike the temperature sensor for the temperature gauge, which has a single terminal on it, I think the TCS temp sensor has two terminals, at a ninety degree angle to each other, and the terminal that attaches to it is "L" shaped. Normally, the wire harness companies don't sell individual terminals, so you'll probably have to find a used one from an old harness. You should be able to get the sensor from your local auto parts store.

Hi Willy73,
Its the TCS sensor located on the passenger side engine block. Lectric Limited sells both the sensor switch as well as the wire harness for it. Part # for the sensor 06489785 ($34.00). Part# for the wire harness is VIG7074TCS ($21.00). Of course you know you'll need to drain the block to replace this!
Hope this helps!

Thanks you Tooch. That is exactly what the sensor and the connector look like.
