Anyone have any images/videos on how to do a heater core bypass? Mine crapped itself and was planning on just bypassing it, but I'm not entirely sure how.
Try Dorman Products, using Google maybe. Black plastic fitting, with hose barbs, one end is 5/8, the other end is 3/4. Remove your hoses from the core, install by-pass fitting, clamp it, be done with it.

i have the fitting, how would I install it? Like disconnect the hoses, put it in place of where the hose went and then?
Sorry, I’m better with things OTHER than hoses alas
I've since changed it out to have a 3/4" fitting on the intake manifold, so I have a single 3/4" hose now (with an internal restriction), but here is the only photo I have with the Dorman 5/8" to 3/4" joining the two stubs of hose. Outlet (5/8") comes from intake manifold, 3/4" hose goes to the long tube on the water pump. If it isn't obvious, you will have to cut both hoses.

One of the BEST tools all Vette owners should have and it does not fit in a tool box, is a set of ramps. Get that thing up in the air and you will see how easy it is the remove the clamps / heater hoses off of the core. Then just hook the hoses to the by-pass gadget and clamp. Leave it at the bottom of the firewall.

Okay, how about this, I want to bypass the heater core but I still want the appearence of the hoses running to the heater core. The only thing I could come up with is a solid hose bib that looks stock but is welded closed. Thoughts................................ ................

I just added a shut-off valve to the hose inlet to the heater core (from the water pump).
I used a lever ball-**** brass valve from the plumbing aisle at H.D., the kind with barbed hose fittings, and used stout clamps on both sides.
My goal was not to permanently bypass the heater, but just be able to shut it down during the hot summer months. (my problem is somewhere in the mode door area, where I can't get the hot air flow to stop, even with fan off and the mode set to OFF).
This gives me the ability to turn it back on in the cooler driving months.
To do this, you need to make sure you've got good radiator performance currently, since the system may rely on the help of the heater core to disperse heat in the event of an over-heating condition.
Shutting off the flow between the water pump and the heater core won't affect the engine cooling and water flow under normal conditions, as you're just bypassing that loop.
I also make sure I open it up each season to make sure I don't have stagnant fluid in the core long enough to promote corrosion.
I don't have any photos currently, but I did place the valve down low and close to the firewall for low visibility.
My only regret was not using the turn-**** style of valve, as the lever type is a little more obvious, and has a hint of "Bubba" to it!!
