Default How much for your Vette?

So I was gassing up my 1970 Corvette the other day and it gathered it's usual crowd for lookers and question askers. I was getting the usual questions we're all asked and then it happened....

GUY: Nice car, want to sell it?

ME: Everything I own is for sale for the right price.

GUY: How much do you want for it?

ME: How about ***insert ridiculously high amount***?

GUY: Would you consider taking $1000 less than ***insert ridiculously high amount***?

ME: (after a moment of deep thought) Sure, I guess I could make that work.

Guy: (Reaches in his pocket and hands me $200) Hold the car for me and I'll be by with the rest of the cash tomorrow to pick up the car.

Me: Do you want a receipt for the deposit or something?

GUY: Nope, just give me your phone number.

And the next day I watched the car drive away while staring at a ridiculously high stack of cash.

Anyhoo.... I just thought I'd share that with you. This was the kind of experience you only hear about. I'm going to really miss that car. I don't know what the hell I'm going to do now, but I'm going to buy something cool, maybe another Corvette. The hot young stripper wife wants a Dodge Viper Coupe so maybe that.

That is a cool story Iceaxe
When your car is nice enough, it sells itself.
And you can never go wrong with a fist full of cash!
Hope you get another Vette so we don't lose you here brother.

I think I’d be looking for a Viper Coupe for the wife.

Funny story and great ending!

My wife tells me if somebody ever offers me a ridiculous price for my Corvette, don't come home, she will come and get me!

That may have been a ridiculous price but with that same money doubt you would be able to find another as nice.

Great story....you were at the the right place at the right time. My wife reminds me quite often about the $35K offer I refused.

Well judging by the photos, the guy got a great looking car, for whatever he paid for it. Sounds like a win/win to me.

That's a heartwarming story;

I get it the OTHER WAY....which pisses me off...but I never answer the same way twice.

Guys at CARSHOWS;
" How much did you pay for it"

1. If you have to ask....you can't afford it.
2. Less than it costs to keep your WIFE.
3. I traded (insert very obscure name of car here) A SKODA Flavio for it.
4. Chevy Engineering is lending it to me for long-term test.
5. 15 smartphones.
6. 100,000 RMB

Ps...Don't think the wifey is going to like the Viper....that's a short term fling kind of car.

Great story...I love a happy ending. And if you are happy, we are happy for you. To answer the question How much.? Its not for sale, regardless of how high the stack is. I got extremely lucky when I found mine, and don't believe I will get that lucky again. IMO A good Corvette is like a good women, if you are lucky enough to find one...Hold onto her.

Number 4 is my favorite. Sounds like one of the stories GTO was spinning in the best car movie ever, "Two Lane Blacktop"

I always do the same thing. Put in a high number. Some guys have thought about it but nobody has ever taken me up on it. I usually say after that what are you willing to offer. They usually go real low and I just say no thank you. Great story with a good ending. Something else will come along. Both of my cars are for sale. I have my eye on something if it were to ever come about also.

I am stealing this one. Although I cannot not conform nor deny, once in a blue moon I may or may not drive home something for testing from my employer. So I might be able to pull this one off.

Yup.... but also like a good woman... looking for the right one, kicking a few tires, and taking a lot of test drives can sure be a lot of fun.

I used to also tell everyone owning that Corvette was like dating an aging **** star..... It was great looking and a helluva lot of fun, but it was also high maintenance.

Theres always someone who wants it more than you, ya did the right thing.
Plenty of new experiences out there to be had! They all have thier price even if they arent for sale

Gotta love the how much did you pay?? Like that matters, not sure what that has to do with anything lol.

l must have taken a dozen dates to see Two Land Blacktop. Not a single one could stay awake for more than 35 to 45 minutes.
I really liked it when they were cruising the drive-in and said: "looks like there's some muscle here tonight." I think he was talking about a 396 '65 Vette. I might have
the words wrong, but that's close. Not trying to hijack, just had my memory bank light up with mention of the movie.
RB.
