I can purchase a 5000lb QuickJack from Costco for 999.00 and free shipping. Are the worth the money? I have a 78 C3 and thought this might be the way to go to work on the car. Any thoughts and input will be greatly appreciate
You'll find a handful of threads here from those of us who have them, we all tend to really like them. Great option if you can't fit / expense a 2 port hoist. Wish I bought mine years before I finally did
I paid $1340 for mine. That’s a good price and you’ll use it for things besides your Corvette. I used mine to change the oil in my lawn mower the other day....
When I first got it, I would take a lot of time getting it placed "just right" under the car, but now I know where it should be in relation to the rocker trim and where I want the blocks tocontact the frame, so I have the car up in the air in just a couple minutes.
As others said, it's quick and locks solidly into place.
Also, $999 is a good price. I think that's about what I paid for an open box unit that I picked up at their manufacturing location in Santa Paula.
For what it does it's a great way to get your car off the ground. Takes minutes to raise it and lock in place.
ddawson,
Why is the end of yours off the ground? It looks like it's trying to tip forward.
I usually have them turned around the other way, with one of the blocks at the back of the tray and contacting the very back portion of the side frame rail, just ahead of the wheel opening. The front block is in the middle or forward part of the longer tray and contacts the frame rail near or just ahead of the front of the door. As it raises, the car goes up and forward. Then when I set it down on the locks, both ends and the center (where the locks are) are solidly on the ground.
The only time I've had a problem with this was when I had the motor, trans, and front suspension out. It seemed like it was pretty light in the front and I didn't want someone to lean on the back and make it tip, so I put a jackstand under the rear diff for safety.

I did the exact same thing and had it tettering last winter. I too did the jack stands for safety. Quickjack said that any lift system will do that with all the weight at one end.

FWIW, I always use mine with the hydraulic hoses pointing to the front of the car (car goes backward as it lifts) on all 3 of my cars and have never had it come off of the ground like that. I I don't think I'd use it like that.

Elmo, thank you for the tip! If I could click you a 'Thank you', I surely would, but we're now limited to handing out 'Likes', which is just totally lame. Anyway, my charming daughter has a Costco QuickJack on its way to me, just about in time for my birthday.

On second glance, that is a little scary looking!
I was so impressed with Dawson's undercarriage and rear end that I didn't notice the QuickJacks up in the air like that!
Was going to harass Dawson for taking this opportunity to "show off", but now it seems a little Cringe-worthy.
PLEASE be careful!

First off THANKS, actual , not ersatz 'like's to Elmo for reminding me to check the Costco website.
The unit arrived in two days from CA.
The #$%^ is HEAVY....shot out a ******** humping that puppy from the porch into the Garage! Each jack is about 75lbs and unwieldy in the box, like carrying a dead body.
The whole assy is like 200 lbs.
I was concerned watching videos etc that the unit looked a bit WEEDY. I am NOT concerned now....The tubing is very thick wall. Of note; QUICKJACK DOES NOT SUPPLY THE HYDRAULIC FLUID....SO GO OUT AND GET SOME...2.5 QTS.
I popped for the QJ also. Just got it set up today, and it worked great. I have a ****** pickup also, and it took a little more tweaking to get it bset up because there are some things in the way on the bottom of the frame rails. I happy with it so far, but it is HEAVY as others have said.

If you havent yet, you'll want to lube the jints with an oil can. They just have little holes that yo squirt the oil in. After a while check your air pressure to make sure you dont have a slow leak
Duke you gave me a 'reminiscent moment'...And I thank you.
My dear departed Dad had a Yellow *****'s pick-up...I think it was a '53. It was a snow plow. I learned to drive 3-on-the-tree with it when I was 9.
Great Vehicle!
