Ive had the smog pump and diverter valve for some time. I believe it is out of a 73 corvette.
The pump is dated late 73, the diverter valve is 29199 stamped GL.
Just want to confirm this before I unload it. I am not that familiar with 73 parts. Thanks, Terr
Yes, the pump is for the 190 th day of '73. 7801149 is correct. 29199 is also the correct diverter valve. However, the broadcast code GL letters were usually if not always stamped on a round white sticker. The ink stamp broadcast code GL was found on earlier years. But anything is possible.
Looks to be in really nice condition. Is that a crack in the black plastic fan?
Tooch
Assemblers tended to do what they've always done...if they could. Some probably skipped on the sticker because it took more time. Or maybe they ran out of stickers. All kinds of oddities happened on the assembly lines in the 60's & 70's.
I have some 69 pumps. Maybe it belongs on them?? I had it in a box with the pump. I try to keep things together. Terr
Hi Terry, Tooch is correct. The ink stamp was '69 or prior. I had a discussion on the GL ink stamp at a NCRS judging regarding a Jan. '70 car and the answer was that '70 gets the sticker. Square elbow started in '72. I'd pull the diverter and elbow off that pump and use it on one of your '69 pumps.
Thanks for the reply. I think you are right. I am slowly putting together my smog systems and trying to figure out who belongs to who. Ill have a handful of 68/69 pumps and a few later one's. Get them back on cars. I might show a picture show of a pump getting restored. I think people might find it interesting. They are a bit of a pain to cosmeticly restore but there nice looking when done. Take are.
I would like to find a nice 68 small block diver valve. If one is out there, let me know. Thanks, Terr
