That had to be heartbreaking to come back and find your car in flames !
Looked like a lot of heart and soul went into that beautiful car !
So sorry this happened!

The frame and suspension are probably ok, maybe even the motor and transmission. You basically need a new body, interior and wire harness. Doable for some buddy...
Damn. Glad you are OK.
Years ago I was in my Fiero driveing up to DC on I95 and right before getting to Petersburg Va. traffic stopped for 45 minutes or so. When it started to move we saw what caused it. It was a Fiero burnt to the ground. Needless to say I was paranoid the rest of the trip.
Hope you find something to replace it with.

Josh, as others have said, really sorry this happened, and glad you're okay. I've seen a few cars go up over the years, and once the fire gets a head of steam it's done.
It will be interesting to see what started it, if they can figure it out. One of the posts mentioned those crazy clear plastic fuel filters. Some of them may be well made, but I remember looking at the engine while running on a newly acquired Hurst/Olds a few years back. That filter pulsed with every fuel pump feed, and looked like it could come apart at the seams anytime. Shut it down and went straight to the parts store.
You're unfortunate situation serves as a reminder to all of us to double check stuff.
Thanks again everyone. Unfortunately, i think i am out of the C3 game for a while. I like to wrench, but i moved into an apartment where i got yelled at for attaching my own license plate.... On the plus side, the 2019s are looking mighty fine right now.. And i do love that brand new car smell!!
I wont turn heads quite the same any more, though, thats for sure.....
A few years down the road i will probably be back into something older. I cant for the next year though in the way i want to be. If i bought one, it would have to be completely finished... Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just not what i would have as much fun with. I loved showing off my imperfections. The runs in the paint, the off stitch.. the busted knuckle from last weekend... It just wouldnt be the same.
I can see from the sequence of events that EVEN a fire extinguisher wouldn't have helped.
Glad it's insured and no-one was injured.
I had a Scirocco Mk1 go up like that. Bought it that morning..drove it 125 miles from TUCSON....Dropped it in my driveway, Chucked a car cover on it.
My buddy and I were in the garage having an adult beverage, when he says "what's that smoke from" I look up to see flames consuming the cover.
It was all over in two minutes. Fire extinguishers didn't cut it!
DUMB KID I BOUGHT IT FROM....stereo amp wires from the battery (No fuse) through a jagged hole in the firewall (metal) wrapped around the pressurized (70psi) fuel injection lines because it was too long....shorted on the jagged metal, melted the FI lines and 70 psi gasoline ensued.
I am very happy that you were not caught inside this one when it happened.
First thing I did this morning after seeing your post was check my fire extinguisher I have and the mount in front of my drivers seat.
Maybe if you have not registered it in the Corvette registry in the past we can get the VIN documented as lost in a fire.
With only so many cars built we will miss each one that cannot return to the road.
My thoughts are with you brother.
David
