Default Can anyone identify this?

This was plugged into the back of the speedometer.
The black plug was right up against the axis of the speedo. I thought maybe a speed sensor associated with the cruise control, but I am not finding how it relates.
It's clearly broken, but I cant detect any influence it has because the cruise is inoperative for other reasons.
The car is an 81 with air conditioning and automatic transmission if that matters.

According to what I just found it's a cruise control buffer sensor for 81-82 corvette (GM)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/GM-Cruise-C...-/161983774948

"
This is a new AC / GM Cruise Control Speed Sensor Buffer in an opened box.
The AC/GM part # is 25007217. The box has been taped and is faded.
The part has the # 25007217 stamped into the plastic blue case. It has 3 wires
(Red, Black, and Green) ~25" long and a black connector on one end with the number
25007218 on the connector. The box says made in USA, and the black connector says
made in Mexico.
My research shows that this part is no lomger for sale by GM and that it fits the following :

Chevrolet El Camino1981-198110A-03 682.SENSOR(VEHICLE SPEED)

Chevrolet Caprice1981-198110A-03 682.SENSOR(VEHICLE SPEED)

Chevrolet Camaro1981-198110A-03 682.SENSOR(VEHICLE SPEED)

Chevrolet Corvette1981-198114A-09 761. Speedometer to Instrument Panel (Domestic)

That's the speed sensor that connects to the computer system for controlling the torque converter lockup.
IIRC you're no longer using the computer on yours and have gone to and older style carb and distributor, and found someone had already installed a lockup controller? If so then no need to look any further

Correct on all but the controller.
Would my computer still control the TC if this connector/sensor is fixed, in the absence of all the other computer controlled functions?
I had been lead to understand that the firewall mounted TC module was independent of the computer... Perhaps I was misinformed.

I'm not certain, Someone else may know better than me.
I believe the computer looked at more than just speed to decide to lock or unlock the TCC.
What is the part you have on your firewall? There was a factory relay there for the TCC
