I'm glad I'm not the only one! My wife's 79 puked its guts. It will never get fixed. I pulled mine out of my 80, and 3D printed a plug to fill the hole. No radio, and no stupid RC car antenna!
Hmmm, I had a fixed antennae on my 74 and I removed it and placed it on the luggage rack to put my winter cover on. I forgot to put it back on in the spring and it must have fallen off the luggage rack on my first drive. Won't leave it on the car again. Next time I put it on the passenger seat.
Or when I go get one, I will put a grommet in the cover where the antennae sits and just start there when putting the cover on.
Bikespace - couldn't help laughing about how you decreed that your "wife's '79.." shall now hath no radio. No music, news or weather. Just the purr of its V8 which certainly any gal would appreciate as much as her guy. Attaway to fix your problem with her car. Plug the hole. Presto. Done!
That said, while I am not proposing an informal straw poll of the fella's here, but as you knew going in our beloved C3's are always gonna need something and you just might have boxed yourself in to a bigger problem. For resale someday. Showcasing your lack of conversational skills vs. a woman's on a nice cruise together. Prompting private thoughts of "your husband is lazy.." by her friends who occasionally ride with her - despite their superior conversational skills. Not to mention sacrificing the love of your life's driving experience whenever she gets a craving to tap her feet and hands while in her C3 happy place.
I'm sure that she pre-agreed to stripping out this driver-friendly feature, outwardly. But, to be on the safe side you just might want to disconnect your own vehicle's radio whenever she is around.
