Hi Everybody.
Being in love with the C3 vet since I was a kid and finally picked up a 72 chrome bumper.
Just has the base L 48 in it but slowly doing some work to her.
Have some MSD coil’s,ignition, wiring being installed.
New carburetter electric fuel injection, air intake take manifold to lower for the carburetter so I didn’t have to change the hood.
But I still need to do lots of other stuff . this is just to make sure she’s running good .
Weatherstripping, interio(all of it) gauges. The list goes on anon .
But right now I am trying to figure out the best tires to put on.
I would love to know what is the widest tire that I can put on my 72 vet with the original trailing arms and not have to put spacers on it , I really don’t want to have to put any flairs on the side.
Right now I have 255/60 R 15’s .
What is the widest tire I can put on the back of this thing.
I’ve been looking for weeks now and I’m stuck on what to do

That 255/60 is around the practical limit. Don't be in a rush to make it faster. Clean it up and drive it. It is gonna give you plenty of surprise things to spend money on. Welcome aboard.

If you are going to do most of the work yourself, purchase the Chevrolet Service Manual and AIM (assembly instruction manual) for 1972. Good Luck and welcome to the Forum.

Burning Brakes
Welcome! I personally like the look of 255/60R15, but my son put 275/60R15's on the rear of our (aka his) 79 with no modifications. I think the rear suspension and fiberglass around the rear wheel is mostly identical between 72 and 79.

Some members needed to cut the E-brake bracket aloose from the trailing arms and relocate them away from the sidewall to prevent scraping the tires. It's a simple repair if you need to move them.
And welcome to the Forum, but we WILL need Pictures of your project car

Thanks everybody
Believe me I know this is going to need a lot of work .
I bought her this way so I can make it my own .
Slowly doing some of the work myself which I am able to , and I have a somewhat retired mechanic that enjoys working on the old classic cars in his garage he has a few of his own also a 71.
Slowly slowly and in time
Here are a few pictures of when I first got it and what’s going on now
