Hi, I must have a missing part or two on the front of my car. The headlight support bracket has nothing to bolt on to. The headlight support has two long skinny metal outriggers that bolt on to a bracket at the front of the car. The metal bracket is apparently missing. Does anyone have a picture of how they are bolted on and what the metal bracket looks like? I am doing a conversion back to regular headlight pop ups from the recessed headlight buckets.

 

Do you mean at where the front is attached or the rear?

Or are you talking the rear part that should be bonded underneath the body between the headlight and hood openings?

That looks like it. If I mount it like that, the rear upper side is not flush with the mounting bracket up top. Do you have a picture of the other outrigger? Or a close up of the bolting at the rear? That picture is very helpful.

If you have a set of headlight frames from a later vette they are slightly different at the front where that picture shows. I believe you would need to add a spacer if that's what you have.
Is your frame flat along where it mounts there or does it have a step where it meets the front bracket

That’s probably the issue. The guy I bought the car from said he found the pop-ups at a garage sale. So they may be from a much later year. I suppose I’ll rebuild and repaint and set ell settings to mid position. With the headlight assembly installed but not bolted in place maybe I can see how big a spacer to install in order to make the door level with the body. Does that sound a reasonable course?

I believe the rest of the frame was the same. If you search i also think the size of the spacer gas come before as well

where would I find that spacer size? The bolt hole don’t seem to line up neither so the spacer may take the form of a bracket.

 

 

IIRC, 68-74 headlight supports will interchange. 75-82 supports will fit the earlier cars if 1/2" spacers are used under the front feet.

69-72 will work for you as direct install with no mods
73-74 will work but you need to fabricate some small spacers that fit under the front tabs on each of the fronts of the assemblies, otherwise the whole thing sets too low in the surround.
75 and up did not mess with as the horseshoe is much different

So you might have the 73-74 which are the right shape but need the spacer, looks like about 3/8 or 1/2 on his pictures, maybe fire off a msg to him,
Do the holes for the bolts vaguely line up but need a spacer (73-74) or are the legs totally in the wrong place (75+)?
