Installed my fuel pump, no problems whatsoever. Attached the fuel line, started leaking so I tightened up the fitting. Bad angle, had to use a crows foot on an extension. It twisted, but did not get any tighter, felt a bend.
This fuel pump was pretty cheap, probably cost more to ship. Any recommendations for a more durable replacement? I will tighten the fitting on the bench instead of in the car next time.
Holy mother of all Chinese reproductions!!! It will probably still work if you can tighten the line fitting. I know you're "supposed" to hold the pump fitting with an open end wrench while you tighten the line fitting to prevent exactly this from happening, but sometimes it's almost impossible to fit an open end wrench up there. Good luck with this one brother.
When my mechanical fuel pump wore out I bought an external replacement electric pump for U.S. cars...it produced a little more pressure than recommended for my Holley carb. so I installed a good adjustable fuel regulator at the carb.
The rplacment pump has a lifetime warranty $60....$40 adj. regulator....12V relay $15 (the $6 cheap ones do not last long)…..
another reason was to reroute the fuel lines to avoid so much engine heat....originality wasn't a concern......
Replaced the pump last Friday, the old one was completely dead. The new one is in, no problems, the car is running pretty rich now. With my O2 sensor I'll have it tuned in no time. Thanks all!
