Default 78 not starting

I have a 78 corvette, with a 69 c10 engine swapped in. I ported over the carburetor (electronic choke) and the distributor. I put in a new starter. when I crank the engine it seizes. and stops. It never turns over. It has a working fuel pump, new spark plugs, new battery, new fuel line and new starter. The engine worked fine before it was swapped, (so I was told) but cranked fine (never started) before I put in the new fuel line.

Are you sure you have the timing and firing order correct?????

If you have swapped just the 'right' (WRONG!) two sparkplug wires the vehicle will STOP in the middle of cranking because it's trying to fire backwards.

I am not confident at all in my distributor/spark wire setup. How can I check it?

Not to0 hard....See the illustration. MARK all wires and follow the illustration. Start at the distributor, mark and trace all....one by one.

On more thing....some starters require shims...you could be binding the starter. Additionally...(we all do it!) Painting up the starter really pretty-like can hurt the ground circuit thru the starter body...paint is an insulator. So if the firing order is okay...scrape the paint off the mating area of the starter.

Check the ground circuit too!

Have a fruitful weekend!
