A gadget much like that ... shaped much like a cig lighter ... simply pushes into console's cig lighter receptacle ... has two usb out ... sells for under $10 on internet ... no wiring ... just plug n play.
it can be pulled out /replacedin an instant ... should you need to use the cig lighter ... if so, STOP SMOKING NOW ... I did.
I don't smoke, so I want to hard wire the charger in the car. My questions is: can I use the power wire to the cigarette lighter to power this charger?

Can you? Yes. But the lighter socket is hot all the time. Cig lighter is second only to starter motor for amp draw. So they did not run it through the ignition switch. So it'll always be lit showing volt readout. Would be better to run it through acc terminal of ignition switch. Or get the socket plug in type and pull it out...

Thanks, that's the type of answer I was looking for. I wanted to hard wire it in where the lighter is,so I can still close the cover.
You could close the cover on the units that just plug into the lighter. But, if you want to bugger the wiring, have at it. Otherwise, you can just insert it or move it to another car...whenever you want. Your choice....
That looks really cool, and I completely understand the desire to close the lid to keep it stock. You will likely find that the ground wire for your existing 12V socket looks like a ring.
Since you probably don't use the ashtray, either, you may want to consider an ACC driven relay powering such a device, or a USB hub (with QC fast charging), with USB cables sticking out of the ash tray. Otherwise, check the amp draw on the LED display. It won't kill your battery overnight, but as others have pointed out, it will happen eventually.
LED won't kill battery in weeks. Just question of whether you want the lit display all the time. Running a wire from ignition switch to the lighter socket is no big deal.
On my 73 , I connected a FM Signal Modulator (to play Pandora on my IPhone) to the ACC terminal on the fuse box. When I turned the ignition to Accessory there was no power. I recently changed the power source to the Yellow Radio positive wire, and now I get power when I turn the key to the accessory position. I don’t think the ignition switch is broke since the radio always worked when the key was turned to accessory.
