Default replacing tail panel advice needed

I have to replace the tail panel on my '72 project. Can I do it with body off the chassis (preferred since it will save me some hassle of getting it back on) or should I get the body temporarily back on the chassis? Any concerns with body lines lining up, etc if I do it off the chassis? At least it is not a quarter panel where I would be worried about door gaps, etc. Thoughts?

if your fixture is an accurate representation of the chassis mounting points, I would do it off the frame.

it may be fine on the dolly, but it is probably a good idea just in case to have the body shimmed and bolted down, just so you know its right the first time and that there isnt any load on the panels when the bodys bolted down in the future, i replaced alot of metal and glass on my car and its hard enough aligning panels, i had the body on the frame bolted and shimmed, had to put on and off 4 times. a big pain but it turned out great, just my advice,
