Not really sure if he "stole" it. Take a good look at the rear wheel well opening and see if you think the same as me. That space around the top of the wheel opening is about 3x what it should be. Looks rather strange.

The wheele also seems to be sitting too far forward.
I looked at it very briefly Thursday, car was rough, dull paint, all the chrome needed to be redone, didn’t present good underhood either. They didn’t even bother taking dust and dirt off the air cleaner. It was staged in the parking garage and the lights really made the paint look bad, probably worse than in daylight. But for the sale price it’s a good entry point or start of something fun.
Depending on how rusted the frame/birdcage are and the condition of the mechanical components, the kid may have bought a "jewel in the rough". He took a shot at it and got the 'kind' of car he wanted. If it can be restored for reasonable money, he will be one happy camper!
I m happy for the guy If you read the listing and look at the photos it states it was a nut and bolt restoration but does not ay when. The rear does seem to sit high but that can be fixed with a different spring or longer bolts as we all know, Yup and the arc of the trailing arm will bring the tire closer forward.
I wish him luck. Click on the link to the auction and look at the rest of the pictures.
