Hit a huge milestone this evening! I finally took the '68 out for a shakedown run through the gears. Had an issue with the brake lights not working so I kept it along the few blocks to the local fairgrounds and on the paved portion of the fairgrounds. She would run like a champ if I knew how to properly drive a manual, main issue is taking off from a stop. The NOS water pump is still intermittently leaking through the weep hole, I will have to pick up a rebuild kit and rrbuild one of my spares or just send it out to a proper rebuilder. Wife took this picture and a video of me backing out, but im having issues getting it onto my phone to upload. I hope to get a better video tomorrow running through the gears at the fairgrounds if the weather is nice.
Great accomplishment Chuck, well done. I am certain your dad is well pleased to see Charlie's Toy back out on the road stretching his legs. Been a long road my friend but you made it.
Best of continued success,
David
It is possible, looking at wheel well openings and the tires, the body might be slid back all the way on the mounts. Can slide it forward in the future. I believe there are alignment holes in the door sills and the frame rales. Just a thought. Terr

I think you might be talking about the rear opening correct? The rear fender and flare aren't bonded to the pillar panel at the moment as I am working on repairing that area at the moment and have slid rearward some.

I will say this, make sure if you have a transmission rebuilt that you actually add gear oil to it. For some reason, I assumed that my rebuilder had added the oil and didn't think to check. Thankfully I didn't drive super far or super hard on it before realizing my mistake. Talked to the builder and he said he used plenty of assembly lube which should have helped. I added oil and drove a bit and did a flush on it last night and topped it back off. I will do another flush in 20-30 miles and see what the oil looks like. We think I just lost a little bit of wear life on the faces of the gears, but should be ok. Time will tell.
