I took the CB radio out of my deceased cousin’s Corvette when I bought it but did install an NOS Realistic Mini 8 track player in there just for old times sake!! Sounds just like the 70’s I remember!!
Do people still use CB radios in their car or truck ?
10-4 Good Buddy! My '80 was originally ordered with a factory CB radio. It still works and I hear people using them. CB radios still have their uses and are a lot of fun. I see a lot of off-road vehicles using them for more secluded trails. I install one in my van when I go on a road trip. Truckers warn each other of upcoming "Smokey" locations and traffic congestion that might not show up on your phone navigation map or GPS. You can still find a cheap Cobra radio and antenna at Walmart and more expensive ones at most truck stops. Many people install them in their Corvettes for when they caravan to shows. Mid America Motorworks sells antenna kits. https://www.mamotorworks.com/Corvett...-2015-619850-1
I have a Johnson Messenger 123A that I don't know what to do with.
That's an old 23 channel radio. Cool. You can get a power supply and antenna and make a base station out of it. I still hear people "shooting skip" when the conditions are right. Or you can hook it up in a vehicle if/when you go on longer road trips. I still have several CB radios that I use from time to time. I don't care what people think. I got my first one from a garage sale in the late '70s. I used one in my first Corvette in the 1980s and regularly in my pickup truck up until a few years ago.
I have one in my wrangler and in my pickup still.
They are semi popular with jeepers for trail use.
And there is still some activity on channel 19 if you live near a large interstate.
Other then that is mostly dead except for a few pockets here and there.

Hook it up to an antenna and see if you still hear static on all the channels. Unfortunately the crystals in those old johnson's fail with age.

I too have one in my Wrangler. The local Jeep club actually requires it. They use CB for close range trail communications.
I'm also a HAM radio operator, so I carry a dual band in the Jeep also. Would never think of hanging antennas all over the Corvette.
i have a base station setup in my garage. I turn it on about once a month to see if anyone is out there...
there aren't.
Well you should hear something on CH6 when the sun is up unless there is something wrong with your base.
Its almost constant and I don't even have much for an HF antenna. Just a G5RV at 40'
Not exactly what I would call quality conversation but they are out there
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
