I am having a problem with the passenger door on my 72 after the weatherstrip was installed. It doesn't want to close. It's not hard to close or needs to be slammed to close. It seems the front portion of the weatherstrip is hitting the hinge post and will not let the door close. And now lets go over the basics....the hinges are good the door alignment is perfect and was aligned before I painted the car. I left some give space for the weatherstrip when I aligned the doors.
I tried readjusting the door but really don't want to play around to much as I don't want to chip the paint. I don't remember who I got the weatherstrip from as it was a few years ago. But I have the same one that I bought from Ecklers for my 80 and it is the same. Any ideas.
If you purchased CRC brand weatherstrips then just shut the door for a few days, the rubber will collapse and fit. If you purchased any other brand I doubt this will happen since the cores to the rubber and the ends are harder.
My new CRC (Corvette Rubber Company) weatherstripping was like that at first as well. As Willcox said, leave the door shut for a few days and it will compress to fit.
If you're doing the T-tops as well prepare to adjust the fit a couple times over the first months to get them to install easily and fully seal out water.
I am not sure what brand they are. I bought them a few years ago when I first got the car. The door seems to be closing now, but doesn't fully latch closed. I have to give it a good push to get it to close all the way.
I guess CRC is the best available this year. Everyyear it seems to be a different brand.

Try to find a set of NOS latex covered foam weatherstrips... they are WELL WORTH THE MONEY.
Hate to go against the grain, but we had the same issue with GM latex NOS weatherstrips. You would install them then the door would be hard to shut..... so we'd shut them a few days and they would collapse and be fine.
The other issue is that most other aftermarket weatherstrips are harder than the GM, the CRC brand is not....
CRC is the only brand I'll install in my shop since GM is no longer an option. One other issue is that a supplier made the latex over sea's, and the skin would stick to the glass... I don't think they are being made any longer so be careful of these as well.
