Back when I got done fixing up my '72 (about 14 years ago), my son bought a nice used C5 for $25K, worth about twice as much as my '72 at the time. (made me a little jealous, just a little). Years went by and my C3 could be traded for a nice C5. Nowadays, a '72 is worth as much, maybe more than a lot of C6's. Now that the C8 is being released, C7 values will tank (C3's continue to appreciate in value) and it won't be long before C7's can be had for $30k and C3's will approach that. So if you're thinking about trading up to a late model, hang in there a while. Myself, I'll still stick with my "analog Stingray".
I believe, especially with the pricing announced on the C8, that I could get more for my '70 454 vert than I could my C7 '15 Z51 if they both went for sale today!
Speaking for myself, with all due respect to the op... I do not care what my C3 is worth today. I do not care what it was worth in the past or the future. I do not care what it’s monetary value is in relation to other generation Corvettes today, in the past or in the future.
As far as my C3 goes all I care about it driving it, keeping it drivable and not stolen. Any other generation Corvette does just about nothing for me.
It's still looking good and running great, though I just don't drive it enough, actually putting more miles on my bicycle. Traffic sucks so bad here is so cal, that if I have to get somewhere during the week, I'm on my Harley and splitting lanes. Weekends, I'll put the top down and cruise, but this time of year, it's getting too hot in the afternoons, and the wife likes the Metropolitan better than the Vette cause I drive it too fast (it just sounds so good running it through the gears with the headers and glass packs). Also because the Met has a bench seat and better for cuddling. How do you get around with your Corvette and Harley both down?
