Hey Guys, 1972 SB Top, Just been thinking of putting a vinyl stripe on the the prominent stinger bit of the hood like you see on some C2's. Its originally Ontario Orange, and was resprayed close but a little more orange Bronze just before we bought it. See the photo, but was thinking either a light silver or black for the stripe, any opinions on stripes and the colour, or what stripe / decal features you seen on a Chromie?
I added a wide semi-gloss black [vinyl] strip to my "rather plain" looking stock L-48 coupe. Puit it on hood and tail, but not on top. I like it...and can remove it at any time. It has been on there for 7-8 years, at least. I put a polymer protectant on the vinyl stripe once per year to stave-off the UV damage. So far, so good.

HI 7T1, Interesting and looks cool, is a Stingray ever plain looking!. Its always going to be a personal preference thing eh? Just wondering, not sure if its called the same in the US, but we have a thing over hear called vinyl Wrap, is that the type of strip you used? I just put some vinyl wrap track stripes on the side of our Holden Commodore (You'd Call it a Pontiac) see pic attached. These were waterless and you peeled the backing paper away and pressed them on with your fingers then a squeegee to bond more securely. Is this the same process as your black stripe? i only ask as the ones on the Pontiac below aren't easily removed if Im not mistaken, but I could be wrong they seem pretty well fixed, there is no glue or adhesive used, and I think i'd destroy this kind getting them off. If you can apply, take off and reapply yours it must be something else, maybe?
Hey OP, have you thought about using a vinyl piece on the raised portion of the hood? I’ve seen this once or twice. It’s sort of like a C2 “stinger” look on a C3 Coupe. Some like it, others don’t. And yes, we sure do have wraps over here. My wife did wraps awhile ago. You name it, she wrapped it, from golf carts to big rigs and everything in between.

Yes. Vinyl material. Clean and wet the surface with distilled water; lay down vinyl (start at one end...peel back a little at a time); rub down to keep air bubbles out (difficult); use small, sharp needle to poke small 'vent' hole in the middle of any bubbles to exhaust air and make smooth (can't see the vent, if you do it well).
Search the web for vinyl stripe suppliers. I bought a 9" wide stripe set and cut off the small outer stripes Very painstaking and nerve-wracking work and you have to be patient. A semi-gloss stripe is what you want [in whatever design you choose].
Thanks for your honest advice guys, on reflection of your comments and some further research I have think I Will leave it as is
Hey 72downunder, this is what I was trying to describe in a previous post. I realize you’ve made your decision, but I thought about this thread when I saw this coupe today online. Again, some like it, others don’t. (I personally don’t like the nose on this car, and I’m guessing many don’t. It’s been for sale for quite awhile now.).
