My 79 l82 takes 3 pounds r12, iit actually took less than that to get correct readings.
oil capacity on mine total is 6 ounces mineral oil..again using r12
Buy a spare can of refrigerant.....If you do, you'll never need it! Also, you probably know to use a vacuum pump to remove air/moisture from the A/C plumbing.
Also, if you have had the system open to the world for any length of time, you might want to replace the dryer.
35-40 bucks, easier and cheaper to do it now!

Yup and if you are switching to 134a you MUST replace dryer and orifice and flush old oil out, i would remove compressor and drain..then when confident 90 percent or more old oil out, and system does not leak.( check prior to disassembly) add correct oil and vacuum heavy..load go..
i would also pressure check to at least 100 psi and see if it hold first..for about 20 minutes
Thks for the info and chart, should be very helpful...……..System was open when I obtained the car, I've replaced dryer, hoses, orfice tube and compressor, My first compressor locked up for some reason, anyway giving it another try....
