Those were all the rage back in the late eighties. I haven’t even seen one in about 30 years. I currently don’t use or own one. I’m wondering if anyone still sells them?

Not much good if the thief uses a tow truck.

The BEST way to protect your car is to not let it out of your sight. If you need to park a car away from where you will be, drive a different car.

If you can't leave your Corvette parked, unlocked, with the T-Tops off and the windows down, you should probably be driving your other car.

In the 80's yes

Realized got a garage and quit using it. Later learned any thief worth the name simply cuts the steering wheel, so it's almost worthless.

A hidden switch to the battery is more effective in my opinion.

Seeing the manual 4-speed shifter may scare off the majority as they would not know how to drive it if indeed they got it started

My friend was a cop in NYC in the 80s. I will never forget what he said, Quote " I love the club. It gives me something to play with as I fill out the stolen car report!!"

Around here, a hacksaw blade through the steering whee l(column, sorry wheel not the column which would make an interesting ride home!!!)) in seconds got it done. Useless!!! Ike

Depending upon the year of the car, six screws under the horn button will get the lock off faster than cutting the wheel. As my dad used to say, locks keep honest people from stealing your car. Jerry

the hacksaw was used on the steering wheel next to the location where the Club was attached, not the column.

I used the stainless steel collar type way back when. It went around the column to protect the rack area of the key switch.

I use a GPS locator, kill switch, vehicle alarm system, cameras and a Doberman Pinscher to protect my C3 nowadays. Always behind a locked fence. I never leave it unattended except at car shows. Call me paranoid but if they want it they are probably going to try.

Thieves, nowadays, use a cordless grinder to cut through locks, chains or whatever is put there to protect your property.

Get good insurance...that is your best bet against thieves.

I think THE CLUB might be a good accesory to put on the car while at a car show or drive in. Like the drive in window tray with the plastic hamburger on it. After the YOUNG FOLKS ask what an eight track is, then you can explain THE CLUB to them. Damn, now I have to go on ebay and look for one....

I have one I use sometimes. I certainly don't rely upon it but it will deter the uninitiated unprepared thieves. I also have a battery cut off, lock the doors, park it in good areas (in my garage most of the time) and insured it by amount and not KBB value.

With all of that said, if there is a "Gone in 60 seconds" scenario where the pros are hunting it, there is nothing I can do to stop it.

My grandfather lost his keys while visiting us back in the early 90s and he had put The Club in place. The locksmith made him a new set of car keys but couldn't help with The Club. My father spent about 40 bucks on reciprocating saw blades and could not get the club off. My father ended up cutting the steering wheel and Grandpa had to order a new one and have it installed before he left. That was the last time anyone in our family used The Club.

Chipped keys (PATS) and hacksaws kinda made The Club irrelevant after a while. Now, most stuff of value that is stolen is spotted and then towed.

In my C4, I have a hidden master cutoff switch. The car is nothing special to look at but it does have a 500 chp LS drivetrain in it. So anytime I drive it to the store or park it somewhere for more than 5 minutes, I flip that switch.
