Default Looking for a good fitting lower dash panel

The lower panel under the steering column is poor fitting at best on my brothers car, plus one of the screw donger deals that screws into the upper part of the dash is broken off. Other than finding a decent OEM one (not sure how likely) who makes a decent repop unit that fits proper? Car is a 68 with a 1 5/8 column. Thanks.

I have no issues with the CA pads and they are on sale until Sunday... but what I'm confused about is what part of the pad you have isn't fitting, it's hard to tell from your picture.

CA re-tooled the lower pads about 7 years ago and they fit awesome compared to what else was on the market place. We even did the test fit for these pads for them.

I don't know what a donger is... lol... but if it's the upper and lower column cover it can be fixed. From your picture you posted I do see an issue with the lower dash column cover, but that's not indicative to an issue with the column. Can you post more pictures of the issue and possibly I can help you more.

Well, let me see if this helps. The area circled in red shows the poor fit where the panel is bowed. The other circle shows where the clips would be to screw into the upper panel.

Obviously the following picture is of a newer car but it should fit like this. Being the car is a 1968 it has a 1 5/8" not a 2" column which has been hard to source the appropriate parts for.....

Are you sure the lower column cover isn't tweaked vs. the dash pad. The lower section of the cover screws to the bracket (1 in the left picture with screw 3) on the bottom of the dash pad as shown below, it'd be more common for this issue to be in the lower cover than the dash pad. If the upper screws (1 in the right side of the picture) are stripped out of the upper and lower column covers this can easily be repaired with plastic fusion or plastic weld.

Ok..... We are apparently having a language issue here. What I’m referencing as the lower panel under the column is item 4 on the right hand diagram you posted. The screw holes in the existing unit are broken off as well as just not fitting well. Everything on the dash pad itself is ok as far as I can tell fitment wise.

It looks to me like your grafting in a tilt column in a 68? You'll probably have a lot of custom fitting to get it to work.

It’s actually an Ididit column which is a direct bolt in for the OEM column. https://www.jegs.com/i/x/535/1120700051/10002/-1. Only issue fitment wise is the firewall to column adapter Ididit supplied doesn’t fit correctly to their column. The column with the powder coat is 1.640” in diameter but the opening in the adapter was only 1.540”. Most likely powder coat buildup is the difference. Had to grind the adapter out alittle with a dremel just a hair to make it all fit. Obviously the column covers are going to to be omitted with the new column. All the OEM upper and lower covers are broken anyways plus OEM the column is in bad shape. So the Ididit column will come all the way down and cover the area the old column covers would.
