Default donut

Sanity check please. Nasty exhaust leak on the driver's side. After a few days of PB Blast and carefulness I got the bolts off and removed the side pipe.

Never did one of these before. It looks like the old donut might have been sintered metal and is still jammed in the manifold. Can't really tell but I think so.
Any suggestions on removal if so? Just poking at it with a steel hook tells me it won't be fun. Just don't know if I'm looking at the manifold or a donut stuck inside.

I have a FelPro 60985 to replace it with and just jamming it in there as is doesn't seem quite right to me.

Just "jam" it in and bolt it up

You are looking at manifold. Nice and clean. Tapered to accommodate donut. Install and enjoy

Perfect! I wonder how the thing failed to leak before - apparently it didn't have one in there.

Thanks!

If you are "Bubba", leaving out the donut saves money and provides that throaty roar he likes.

Probably burned away. Once the leak starts, it is a cutting torch.
