Default Hard Come - Easy Go

Sad case of a restored 72 convertible which recently sold for ~30,000. VIN 1Z67K2S502089. Make sure those gas lines are secure! See before and after. Buyer got it in TX and drove to NC adding just 1300 miles before disaster. To see all before & after photos goto https://www.streetsideclassics.com/v...rolet-corvette & https://www.copart.com/lot/37763449
CoPart sold the carcass in less than 12 hours.

Bummer.
But, it's worth putting a new nose on. I've seen worse brought back to life. Hopefully this one comes back too.

Anyone know the actual cause of the fire? There are things to learn from every tragedy...

I check CoPart every day for 72 Vettes. I need a good donor so I was VERY interested. The car was listed very late Wednesday Aug 21 with it showing "future sale". It was not listed as a best offer or buy it now. That was still the case when I checked it again at 2am. The very next morning at around 9:30 it suddenly changed to SOLD. Normally a car will be listed for at least a few weeks and given a auction date. I sent a complaint email to the corp office that day. I don't expect they will reply with the truth. It was not auctioned or listed as a buy it now. I suspect a back room deal was made and so the price will never be known. It will probably be repaired and resold. The firewall fiberglass was likely badly damaged. Since the damage was heaviest on the passenger side, it was likely caused by a gas line/fuel pump leak. The car had tube headers. But,... could also have been an insurance job.
