Default 79 L82 wiper issues hitting hood

Wipers ongoing saga for me, hell i just figured out i had telescoping steering wheel if i had tilt. Then i thought wipers were bad and switch cover was missing, and figured out i had intermittent wipers and a new **** confirmed it turns.Thought first click was on but was intermittent and set to the slowest so i thought stuck.
everything works perfect, until i got caught with a few drops and turn on wipers and nothing, can hear all the clicking in console but wipers stuck. Come home open hood works perfect...so this time i come home and pop the hood to check temperature with ir gun and the wipers come on! A very careful look and i see the arrow part just touching hood enough to hang up, and cannot see why unless as circled this either should not be bent or bent too much? I want to make it right and get replacement if there is not supposed to be any bend, or try and straighten and hope it dont break...

can anyone confirm? Thanks it is passenger wiper

Arrow is where it touches hood with square bracket (weird design), circle is best i can figure the issue.

I think you will find those aftermarket blade assemblies are your problem. They look much thicker than originals. I would take them to the local parts house and see if something thinner is available or I'm sure the Corvette venders offer something closer to original. Chip.

Not just Corvettes. I understand other vehicles with "hide away" wipers that park under the hood can have interference using the larger, bulkier replacement blades popular today. I suppose the larger blades are to indicate greater performance. Remember the high performance blades with the wing on them to help increase downforce on the blades? I guess for those that drive fast in the rain.Chip.

Some time ago I bought new blades on a trip to the US, thinking they have to be correct. Er, no, the same issue iterpon has. I ended up finding some replacement blade inserts (remember them?) and fitting them to the original blade holder assembly.

Maybe I need to re-visit new complete blade assemblies!

Any one of the bottom three should fit without any problems, I believe I have the 37-160's on my 76 and no interference. These are the style of blades that have been around practically since wiper blades were introduced, same thing I have on a 66 Mustang except shorter.

Get some of the frameless wiper blades. They work wonderfully, last a long time and clearance won't be an issue.

Left what was on car bit slightly too tall washer bracket hit. Right trico neoform will work but wider on drivers side was tight in the u bracket
Well i cleaned out the stores, the thirdfrom bottom at oreillys rain trico is same size as old one no go.
i did find a bosch hybrid (china 40 bcks) that worked except got it home and too wide..
trico neoform i found at advanced auto..could make work but tight on width on that drivers side bracket..will wait for rock auto shipment then ebay then if one of those work take back my 50 dollar neoform trico made in mx wipers..

again thanks for all the help and saving me from trying to bend arm, which i started to try!
