Reminds me of how my 78 sounded when I brought it home from getting my headers and sidepipes put on last winter. Inserts didn't come in right away, so I had Todd just toss it together. Sounded like a WW2 fighter plane taking off when I hit the freeway on ramp
Just today in somewhat heavy traffic, I heard this awful sounding vehicle approaching & turning lotsa revs ...
... then I saw it ... a late model mustang in opposing lanes ... must've been a V6 w/ straights ... alarmingly way too loud ... and sounded like crap too.
I will wrap up my 3" SS exhaust with borla mufflers, maybe tomorrow. I anticipate this to be kind of loud. 1 7/8" american racing headers, H pipe, 3" mandrel bent SS pipes, transitioned to oval tubing after the trans crossmember. I cut out the original steel tubes from the crossmember and welded in larger diameter tubes, the 3" pipes required that. Its been my summer project, just so darn hot here in Las Vegas to enjoy cruising, where as winter is excellent cruising season. Anyway, Ill post pics and video next time.
Reminds me of the "old days" scavenger pipes. No mufflers, no bends, just a straight tube running under the rear axle from the manifolds. I loved that sound., especially when backing off the throttle... kinda like a school bus.
