Default The C3 2019 Hurricane Thread..........

Moderators.....would it be O.K. to include this thread in the C3 General Forum? We members have made so many long distance friends and have actually met some members face-to-face/car-to car.

We learned that last season some members who were affected badly by the extreme weather lost contact with the Forum for days and even weeks.

Rather than searching for individual threads to keep track of our friends I was wondering if we could have members who are affected by the hurricanes post in this thread so we can keep up with their safety and welfare.

Maybe there are even needs/request by affected members that we could help with.

Thanks.

OT topics are decided upon on a case by case basis. I don’t see any problem with this one.

However, in the future if you have a question for a moderator, please send it to one or all mods for that section in a PM rather than addressing a post to “Moderators” hoping one might read it. We do not see every thread or post. There‘s a list of all Section mods found at the bottom of each section’s “General Discussion” page.

Thanks for the info on posting threads that need Moderator approval. I recently saw RVZIO and he was going back to Florida to tie things down....and I have followed other members who I count as Forum friends along the Gulf Coast and the Atlantic Coast''

I hope for the best for each member.

Good idea.
I have a sailboat that has been in Elbow Cay, Abaco, The Bahamas since 1989 and have many friends there.
The reports I have gotten indicate much devastation to homes and business in the middle of the island at White Sound. Center of eye came through there. Sure it cut the island in half. Again. Abaco Inn collapsed. Sea Spray gone. Many houses destroyed more roofs gone.
No one has died that I am aware of at this point. I have no word on Hopetown (or my boat). Pray that everyone is okay.

Cocoa beach, FL
People can still get to Orlando. Have friends headed that way right now. It'll be hard to find a hotel room.
Looks pretty calm around Stuart.

Anyone with loved ones on Elbow Cay contact me and I will report any info I have.

We are boarded up, tied down, covered, & waiting. Orlando is running short of hotel rooms, but there are still some available. Many shelters still have room. TONS of resources, supplies, equipment, & man-power have been assembled in a central location here, and are on stand-by for deployment immediately after the storm.

Update for Elbow Cay, Man O War Cay and Green Turtle Cay, The Bahamas

No reports of loss of life at this time!

Devastation is immense and widespread. All of the Albury's Ferry boats sunk in Man O War Harbour. Elbow Cay cut in half at White Sound.

Thanks for the info......I guess news like the above is appreciated a lot more by those who have been through hurricanes.

Man! That is some terrible news about the destruction. It is amazing citizens survived the 180 mph winds and waves. Normally Louisiana would be soaked with rain by now from disturbed weather in the Gulf of Mexico, but Florida is blocking the bad weather we would normally receive.

We were fortunate here with only minor flooding in the usual spots mostly because of tides that were running higher than normal anyway and some beach erosion. I'm afraid the folks from Charleston up to the OBX won't be so lucky. Word is it's re-strengthened to a major in the last hour and the latest modeling has it closer to or over the Carolina coast. Hope everyone who needed to get out did so, and those who stayed are prepared.

Thanks for the updates. It's a GOOD thing when a Cat 5 hurricane produces a short thread!

Say a prayer/have a good thought for those families whose loved ones who didn't survive.

I live in the panhandle. We shut down all our systems before the weekend and covered everything in plastic. Fortunately, it didn't cross the lower part of Florida and hit the gulf. It has been so damn hot here, the gulf is a fierce storm waiting to happen... Anyway, I have some work buds who are in the Orlando area, one friend who is on Cocoa Beach. He said they never even lost electricity, so this one didn't destroy Florida... other states, different story.
My wife and I were booked for a weekend in Bimini, taking a seaplane from Ft Lauderdale for the long weekend. Well, Dorian said no friggin way, so we stayed home, watching and waiting. Glad it wasn't as bad as what hit the Bahamas.... No idea how bad Bimini got it, but I can only imagine.

Thanks for the humor, Maverickmk.

It's a good thing when a monster Hurricane has so few incidents in it!

Let's hope Sept. thru December are the same (with the exception of the Bahamas...those folks need an Island rebuild)

Keep us updated in case that storm begins to "act Squirrelly".
