I'm usually in the C6 section, posting here for a friend who just lost her husband. She has her husbands 1981 Vette, she'd like to sell but doesn't have a clue what it's worth. I'm looking for some help here. Car has app. 50K miles, motor is very new, not sure how many miles but I can find out. Here are the specifics of the car and some pics, ANY help would be appreciated, they are a very nice family and she is suffering tremendously...THANK YOU in advance!
Pull the kick panels and post pics of #2 body mounts. Engine pics. Interior pics. Few 81's are worth 15k. This could be an exception to the rule. The quicker she wants it gone, the less she will get.

Thank you, I'll get some pictures of the engine and interior. You mentioned the #2 body mounts, are they a known problem with the C3? Not sure of her time frame, I know she wants it gone. I knew her husband, a very articulate guy, if he built this car I know it's a good car. He owned one of the biggest Speed Shops here in NY many years ago. If I had room in my garage I'd throw out an offer, looks like a fun car to own/drive...thanks!
OP, I’m leaving this thread open here in General because it seems it’s a What’s it Worth? Question thread. Please do not make sales in this section. It will be removed at that time.
If and when you decide on an asking price, please know that you cannot list a car for someone else on the site unless you address certain issues. A section of the site rules on this is below, along with a link to those rules:
...Going forward, those listing cars or parts they do not personally own must make this clear in their sales thread, posting:
The circumstances regarding why the owner is not listing the car
The role the thread starter will play in the sale
And agreeing to participate in trying to resolve any post-sale issues.
Threads failing to address those points will be removed by moderators.
Potential buyers should be aware of who the actual owner of the car or parts is and who would be responsible for potential disputes before proceeding with a purchase.
If you do attempt to sell the car here, post a thread in the C3 Cars For Sale, with an asking price, with the above issues addressed. Please contact me with questions. Thanks.

Best bet would have her join the forum and list it for sale herself to keep powers that be happy. Go to last page and back up to post 107. All the bird cage and body mount stuff in rule 5 or 6. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-corvette.html

Thank you, I won't be listing here, doubt I'll list at all through the Forum as I don't think the owner would want to get involved in a long-distance sale. I think she just wants an approximate value and then she'll go from there. Being as this is a modified car it's not like she can go to KBB and pull it up so an "about" price would be at least a place for her to start, right now she has no idea where to start at. Thanks again...

Interesting read, I guess every generation has their issues, I've already replaced the harmonic balancer on my C6. Thanks again...
Receipts for all the work done will go a long way to making the sale. A local sale will be simple, but for a car with these modifications, it may take national marketing. A search here on the forum will find good advice on successful long distance sales.
Thanks for all the tips and info, talking to my Brother in Law yesterday it seems she put a price on the car and from what I'm reading about C3 prices it doesn't seem outrageous and should sell fairly quick. Have a great weekend...
That is a nice car and a nice build. But it is a bit of an "oddity": a 'refined' C3 with some style, but built primarily for strip use.
If it has decent street manners, many Corvette buyers would be interested and it could bring up to $25K because of the engine/tran configuration and the good condition of the car. If it does NOT have decent street manners, only drag strip folks will be interested...and they don't care one hoot about it being a Corvette. I would think the car would yield $15K or less, if that is the case.
Wish her luck in finding the right buyer. Nice looking car....

Not sure if I'm supposed to mention price but I'm not selling it here so...Brother in Law told me she wants $12,500, sounds fair considering the work to the car.
