What to look for when purchasing
Make sure you know what you can live with, and what you can't. A running fun car, a basket case, or a Garage Queen.
The Queens will be perfect, and you will be afraid to drive. The basket case can take years to get to a running state, and many get discouraged, and sell having never driven them.
If you are looking for fun, start simple. Decide what colors you like, and options. go to transmission options at that point.
Take your time, there are a lot of cars out there.
And by all means, if you find something, get pictures, and post questions here. There are a lot of people on here that have been doing this a long time, and they can be an excellent resource.
I got my first Corvette in 1974, a used 1970 LT-1. Sold that in 1979, and got my next one in 2012. a 1985, and now I have a 1971 454 as well.
I am still learning, and doing the small projects myself. But I keep them running for fun. Big repairs I send out.
You will have to decide how much you can do, how much you want to learn, what not to do, and when you are in over your head. It happens to all.
In any case, welcome to the madness.
I could afford because it will actually save you in the long run and so far it's worked out
for me.
Good luck with your search.
