Supposedly it's a 427 400. There is definitely nothing between the 25 and the H except for a space.

If it is a 69 big block, MH is the only code I have found. 427/390, manual trans, transistor ignition.427/400 would be either a MJ or MK.

the only engine code on a 69 corvette big block with a H is MH - a 427-390, (not a 400).
that seems to be missing a M.. might have been a bad stamp strike.. remove the paint and look for a faint M.
that stamp looks to have good broach marks so a good chance of being legit. but the old paint negates the possibility somewhat.

check the casting date of the block...

I agree with Joewill. The vin stamp looks factory but the date portion is not typical. The broach marks look good where they can be seen. Remove the paint on the rest of the pad very carefully with some lacquer thinner without scratching the stamp pad. Just gently rub the paint thinner along it.

Thank you. That's kind of what I was assuming. Gonna do that this weekend. Googling to how check the casting date now. Should it be the same as that stamp?

engine date casting code is back behind the distributor on the flange where the bellhousing bolts on. there will be a casting number on one side and a casting date on the other side.

and no, it will not be the same as the assembly date stamping. it is usually a few days to a few months before.

Magic markers because he did not want to give away his Vin number.

Yeah it say C 11 9. So I guess March 11 69. So 2 weeks before stamp.
