Default Brake caliper

Probably a stupid question! But what is the small irregular hole for on the brake caliper, towards the left top side. Looks like a rust hole but they all have it. Thought my caliper was rusted through.

They are the thread holes from the assembly bolts that hold the two calipers halves together. Handy, too. I had to shoot some Kano-Kroil down them to get my calipers apart for the rebuild.

Thanks, its odd that they are so irregular and are not just a perfect drilled hole.
