If you had a specific model in mind it would be helpful in advising you...
I have 2 of them. Use low profile one all the time as it's better than more expensive "craftsman" I bought 4 or 5 years ago(it's relegated to letting someone borrow it duty now). The other is a standard floor jack and is 15 or 20 years old still going strong.

I've used the this: https://www.harborfreight.com/15-ton...ump-64545.html
1 1/2 ton for 8-10 years. Great jack. Smallish, but I haven't had a car that it wouldn't raise any 2 wheels, (side, front, or rear). Handle breaks down, easy to handle and store..
I can't see needing a 3 ton for auto motive work.
OM
Used nothing but hf orange jack for 20 years all good except when lowering, not so smooth on lowering speed.
i rebuilt an abused hein warner jack and the lowering is way smoother than the hf. It is my go to now.
so in short my three criteria now are
smooth lowering
pad size as i like larger
size capacity and profile

I have their 3 ton aluminum racing quick pump jack in my shop, and the racer I crew for has 2 of the same jacks in his trailer, that we use all the time at the track. Mine only gets used about once a month, but the ones on the trailer get used quite a bit. We usually put the car on jack stands every time the car comes off the track, so during a normal race weekend, we raise and lower the car 6 to 10 times, and we've never had an issue with one of our Harbor Freight jacks.
This is the jack that we use and are very happy with.
Yep 3 ton HP low profile. I have had it for about two years works well no issues, but I would never trust it or any jack for that matter without something else as a safety element like jack stands. Anything could happen so safety first!!! Ike
