Default Unknown part and function

Hi, can anyone please help me identity this part and its function, I pulled the dash apart almost a year ago to fix the low wattage dash lights and new aircon ducting as well as a new set of gauges but because of work and life getting in the way, I can't remember how it goes back.
There seems to be electrical as well as vacuum hoses but I cant find anything in the wiring loom that looks like it should attach to these points.
I'd really appreciate some help and guidance.
I've attached a photo of the car before I started as well, thanks, John

It's an electro-vacuum switch that is part of the windshield wiper door mechanism. Nothing else like it in any C3 and it went way c. 1974 when the "complicated" windshield wiper door was eliminated. It's known as the bitch of a piece in the system to replace because it's buried in the dash.

Actually GM got rid of the door in 73...

The wires are blue and yellow (69-72) that connect to the solenoid. For a 68 IIRC it's brown and black.

BTW, nice looking car, even though the pic is a little fuzzy the paint certainly looks pretty good and so does the few parts shown.

(Consider updating your profile with the car year, helps when someone is trying to help... 70-72 but there were a few changes in there )

Thanks, it's a 1972, all new chrome, leather interior, heaps of new parts, and a new paint job about six months prior to me buying it.
Heres a better photo.

Looks great
The solenoid wires should be a single flat connector with a single light blue wire and a 2 yellow wires joined at the connector (circled here on the right side, best pic I seem to have)
