I have a 1973 c3 with a turbo 400 transmission. When I shift into low it will stick and I have to struggle to shift up to 2nd. I haven’t tried to troubleshoot it yet and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about where to start looking.
Look for any kinks or burned spots in the cable. If there's a ground that's not so good, sometimes electricity (being really lazy) will find the path of least resistance and use the shift cable as a ground. Not real common on a Corvette, but anything is possible. More likely a kink or really bad adjustment.
Also check the cable that goes up to the steering column.
The cable on the left here is the one going to the lever on the column up on the firewall. Shown is it in park, when you shift into low that left cable is being pulled out a long way and if it kinks or bends, when you go to put the shifter back into 2 it might be bending and not wanting to go back into the outer sleeve and then once it's past that point it could move ok again
