Default Power window relay

I am working on the wiring on my 78 resto and have completely replaced the wiring with a Ron Francis custom 24/7 harness. I have used relays in a lot of places. Very happy with the result. I am about to get to the power windows ( and the power locks). I know I need 2 relays for the windows, one up and one down. But is there a way to connect BOTH motors to the same set of relays? Or is it just simpler to use 2 sets? Thanks.

I'd check the original wiring schematic as GM did it with a one (I believe) SPST relay.

Hey Jim-

You can could just use one set- ONLY if you want both windows to go up and down at the same time!!! You'll need (4) SPST

Another thing I found- real genuine Bosch relays - part# 0332019150 -made in Portugal - great for what you are doing - and very inexpensive- under $2 each !!! Go to Rock Auto and do a search for the part number- these are SPDT- but can be used for a lot more applications.

Yep- GM used one SPST relay that switched the power for the windows on with ignition...

However- the reproduction switches don't last very long running full power through them versus just controlling the relays.

Mike, yes I did look at the original and I actually have that part still in my harness hanging on the wall.( Not throwing anything out until I am done) I wanted a different way to go and the diagram from WIlcox is just the ticket. Richard, I just got 4 genuine Tyco relays with plugs for $20. And as I said, I have become a believer in the switch just turning on the relay with the power going direct, thanks to you help. I wish I could show everyone the burnt,, melted or corroded stuff I found in my old harness. Right now I am trying to mod a C4 center console into my C3. I got a deal with the console, with all the mirror and window switches in it. I am also putting in power locks and on that one I think I will do as Richard suggested with one set since the locks going on and off at the same time isn't a problem. Thanks for the help guys.
