Default NCRS and passenger side mirrors.

What is their take on adding a passenger side mirror. I know the cars didn’t come with them but I know some dealers added them. I would like one it’s nice having it while backing into the garage.

I believe it is judged as if there were holes in the body where the mirror was, but the mirror itself is obviously not looked at. This is how luggage racks are judged.

Correct! This applies to GM-approved dealer-installed accessories. Here's how the standard deduction reads:
  • The item itself is not judged. Because of conflict with the NCRS Judging Standard, a small deduction will be made for any Chevrolet Dealer-Installed accessory, such as a luggage rack, right hand rear view mirror, etc., which was not available through the Corvette assembly plant, even though such an item was approved, sold and installed by the dealer as a GM part. These items are limited only to those listed in Chevrolet literature as being specifically available for the Corvette that are correct for the model year on which they appear, if they are installed to GM specifications.
  • Proof of availability will rest with the owner. In making the point deduction, the judge will take into consideration the extent to which the addition of the accessory alters the component or subassembly to which the accessory is affixed. For example, the addition of a dealer-installed luggage rack results in holes in the rear deck fiberglass area. Point deductions for the missing fiberglass will be scored on the appropriate line item of the Exterior score sheet.

Something else to consider is the add on mirrors are not concave like a modern cars mirror so don't expect to see that great out of them.

IMHO, not worth the trouble of putting it on. I've had my C3 for seven years and it was fully loaded. Except for the passenger side mirror, I really never missed it, just got used to it. I think it kind of makes it unique.

Taking points away for an item that improves safety doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Why can't NCRS just ignore the dealer installed items, rather than penalizing for them. (BTW, that was a rhetorical question. I already know their answer.)

, but not that I give two cents about NCRS judging. A passenger side mirror was one of the first things I installed on my 69. Not only is it a safety item, but I always thought having just the driver side mirror looked odd. Lopsided. Asymmetric.

Speaking of safety, does NCRS penalize cars for having tires with newer DOT date codes than the original tires, even if everything else is identical, like with reproduction vintage tires? I hope not.

Yes, they would, 10% if they existed, but they don't. The best modern tire is a Kelsey Hayes Goodyear (70-72) which is a 20%

Im the opposite. I wouldn’t put one on my ‘69 because it looks completely wrong to me. It’s never mattered from a practical sense.

I did prefer the 2 rally mirrors on my later C3s though.
