Has anyone installed new tack strips in the top?
I replaced mine because it was damaged #3 bow. The new tack strip only fills the bow up half way. The old one came to toe top of the bow.
will this be an issue with the top install?
Thanks
Bob

Hey guys...I made my own tack strips using I believe, POPLAR....just basic carpentry really. They can be bent by soaking them in hot water and clamping them until they dry.
Then I glued the tack strips to the C channel rails using Liquid Nails.
Then I used STAINLESS STEEL staples, I believe 1/4"
Then I tapped the staples down very uniformly.
I sealed the staples with clear epoxy.
Well that was 40 years ago.....Still have the top! (even though its in the back room!) I went with option C....No top at all!
I seem to remember it WASN'T rocket science...I was 22 at the time.
Unkahal...even tho when I did it, I was BABYHAL! lol
I just ordered the correct size fron ebay 1/2"x3/8" sold by the foot. Plastic 5 feet cost less then 7.00 with shipping.
I did not want to chance using the thin one.

Turns out the 1/2x3/8 is the wrong size. I cut 1/8" strips of mdf fiberboard 5/8' wide glued them in and put screws in them. I will let you know how the top works out. I think that # 3 bow has two tack strips in it. The bottom one is stapled into the bow. the thinner one is stapled to that one. If you remove the tack strip leave the lower one in place.
