I have a full size billboard of either 25th anniversary edition or Pace Car, I opened corner when I received it back in the 70's but can't remember which it is. Any idea about outside markings on pkg that would lead me in right direction? Want sell but don't really want to open it either. Thanks in advance! Tom PS-can't really find any shipping dates, etc.
The B2Z/ SA full size billboards were 'reasonably' common...NEVER saw a pace car version.
Jeez...you can open the box! What if it's moldy inside!
unkahal
you never know, it might have NOS air in the box!
Ok, OP, just having a little fun. I have to say, I too would open the box to see what's inside. Of course as i'm sure you would, just be really careful doing it.
Yeah, I've opened the corner when I first got it so I guess I'll open entire pkg. Just don't want kids to say a piece of garbage and throw away when I'm gone. Nothing wrong but downsizing inventory to people who will enjoy items. Sold my 68 a month ago to friend and he's driving the wheels off of it! I still have 69 Camaro to drive and as they say "you can only drive one at a time". Thanks for replies. Tom
The Silver Anniversary billboards were available from Chevrolet in 78, by filling out an order form that was part of an ad that Chevrolet ran in most of the car magazines, and Sports Illustrated at the time. It came in a brown wrapper that was about 13" x 40", and the only markings on the package was the name of the publishing company on the shipping label, "CECO Publishing Company - Warren Plaza - 30400 Van **** - Warren, Michigan 48093". The billboard was made up of a number of panels that when unfolded was about 22' x 10'. The headline on it was "See What's New Today in a Chevrolet". I've seen them advertised for anywhere's from $100-$300 in the past.
I think there were also Pace Car billboards that floated around in late 78 also. These were regular highway type billboards, if I remember right, that somehow became available through some dealers or Corvette parts companies. They had the heading "Set the Pace" over a side profile picture of the Pace Car.

Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
Slideshow: A Jaguar designer's personal project imagines what a modern front-engined Corvette might look like if Chevrolet revisited the golden age of the Stingray.
