Default Rad shroud question

Hey guys

so this summer my old rad burst and we installed this northern aluminum radiator. I have two cooling fans on it which are connected to the ignition so they’re always on. The car had no shrouds when I bought it and I want to know if I should get a lower and upper shroud to better aim the air from the fans or if it’s fine as is.

Do you have overheating perceptions ?

Suggest sort always-On with a temp sensor & relay(s)

OE type shroud(s) will not help at all.

Maybe the alum baking-sheet sort with two holes sized like your fans will help.

you should be fine. If your not overheating you could go the way Jackson suggests that you add a fan controller so that the fans come on in stages, epecially up in BC if your not seeing high ambient temps and high engine temps.

And you want the fans as close to the radiator as possible, they are pulling air through the radiator at slower speeds and arent really designed to help evacuate air from around the engine. If anything, the hot ir they are pulling is forced down below the engine and mwy help evacuate the engine bay heat.

Once you are moving, the volume of air coming into the front of the radiator will overcome any suction the fans create and will be forcing air through the radiator. I'm not a big fan of blocking the rest of the fan surface with a shield to support the fans unless it has doors that shut under the vacuum of the fan and open with the forced air. Any engine bay heat will be forced out with the movement of air at speed.
