Can't say for absolute sure (on a 69) but every other one I've ever seen is in front of the distributor as you show there. (With the wiper / washer behind I don't think there's really enough room to jamb another set of lines either)
That said, I'm used to seeing the white filter a lot closer to the splitter/check (maybe 3-4") and then into the manifold fitting which is pointed more towards the driver side

Very helpful thread as I'm replacing my vacuum filter and check valve with the correct type.
I'm looking for the correct (size and style) that runs from the manifold fitting to the filter and then to the check valve.
I'm only finding complete vacuum hose kits. Does anyone know where I might source a single length of the correct hose?
