Default 69 factory air

Anyone have any experience with a 69 small block factory air car throwing ac belt at higher rpm (4500)

I have tried different belts. No help. Seems like the ac compressor is on a slight angle to the engine pulleys. ( very slight ) The bracket that holds the ac in place is super heavy duty , hard to imagine it could have bent ?

anyone have any similar experience with this ?

Thanks

From my experience there are usually 3 things to check. A pulley is out of alignment, wobbling pulley or not enough tension on the belt.

I know for mid years the water pump hub was pressed to a different dimension vs a non AC for the correct alignment

Put a straight edge on the pulleys and sight it up and measure it carefully. If they are out of alignment enough to throw a belt, you would feel a vibration at higher RPMs. Jerry

Make sure the belt is correct for the pulley/groove configuration that you have on the car. You may have the correct "V" and length, but not have one for the correct depth.

When the belt is installed, the outer surface of the belt should be about level with the O.D. of the pulley groove. If the belt is down in the groove, IT IS THE WRONG BELT; you may need one that is wider width.

You also need to be certain that the belt has proper tension on it. When new, a belt will stretch some in the first few days/weeks of use. Check it occasionally to be sure it remains tight. Adjust if necessary.

The inner [bottom] surface of all fan belts MUST NOT BE TOUCHING THE BOTTOM OF THE PULLEY GROOVE.

still throwing this belt at 4500 rpm. I noticed that the belt which Was bought from ecklers for 69 300hp air car seems too fat at the water pump pulley. Maybe pulley was changed at some point In last 50 years. If non ac
cars had a different water pump pulley this could be the problem. I have owned the car less than a year and have no history . Power steering belt and pollution pump belt are much thinner. Allthough a thicker belt it seems to fit in the ac compressor perfectly but it seems to ride very high on the water pump and I believe it’s jumping at water pump .

Not sure what to do from here.

Didn't Corvette's come with deep groove A/C pulleys just for this reason.

And clearly all of the pulleys need to match up with regard to the size belt they are designed for.

What horse power rating is the engine?

I do not have an aim for this corvette. Perhaps somone can let me know if this number on my pulley is correct for a 1969 small black ac / automatic car ? If it is correct then I have to suspect that the belt may be in correct ?

does the belt look the same in all pulleys? you said seems too fat at water pump. sits better in crank and AC pulleys? measure width and depth of V compared to the others.

3883235 is a deep groove water pump pulley.

I was speaking about the pulley on the air conditioning compressor. The Corvettes used a deep groove a/c pulley.

You really need an AIM. This is what I can find for a 1969 Corvette with C60 air conditioning from the AIM

Pulley - Generator (Alternator) - 1949356
Pulley - Crankshaft - 3911013
Pulley - Water pump - 3876846 (narrow groove)

I suspect that you may have a pulley alignment issue
