one word... liability
many people do not want a paper trail of a car they used to own. I certainly don't want someone to call me up asking me about a build or repair from years ago on a car I used to own. the more owners a car has, the greater chance of a excuse popping up where a lawyer can make your life He!!.
Thats why dealers chuck all that stuff when you trade in your car.
in fact with all the privacy acts, I bet I would be breaking the law letting my buyer know the owner trail of my car.
on the other hand, with these 50 year old cars, the original owners are more likely dead...
