Secod coat Fin. Not perfect, but much better. If I was to do it again, I would apply the paint with a syringe for each color. While they can be scraped, a needle and toothpick would have worked better
Thanks for posting this, and suggestions to do it better! I need to do this on my 79.

Speed jack it is not Crunchy. Pre sprayed last night, fingers crossed Hmmm....stock? Me thinks not. Yep, cat already gone. Might as well do it up right Any excuse to buy a tool must be 100% exploited. I swear officer, it just fell out. Shiny, new toys. She might be a L48, but this should sound a little better.
Snapped two of the six exhaust studs, d’oh..gonna try double nut if they’ll go on, then vice grips and prayers. If they snap again — likely new jegs ram horns.
hope I can get ‘em, drilling out never ends well for me.
what is the passenger side valve thing about? Mine was rusted free, but the rod and what it attaches to is still there. It’s not likely to go back, what emissions purpose does it serve and how to best eliminate?

Reason: Pics
The valve is the heat riser. It closes off the passenger manifold until the car comes up to temperature, and forces the exhaust up through the intake manifold, which helps to warm up the carb. It should fail open (vacuum holds it closed), but sometimes they rust shut in the closed position and cause all sorts of crazy problems.
There is zero reason to have it in your car. There are spacers available (both 2" and 2 1/2" inches diameter, depending on which rams horns you put in) if you need it to make your exhaust fit vertically.
My nemesis. 5 out of six. This one is stubborn. No good way to oil, tried double nut — threads are so gone the nuts just spin on each other. Vise grips - not much room. Had to walk away, will go to bat again tomorrow....
Moved starter for room, Bubba wuz here...not even a crimp. Yep, that happened Slow speed, high pressure has always worked best for me. Jumped to every other bit, can’t get too greedy Next up, my own “bubba” - will update
Drivers’ side sat. Loose fit for now And on to the next. Should of tapped it, but didn’t think it would hold (drill went off center). Plus, wrong studs. Allens’ exhaust doesn’t need the riser. If (when) it leaks I’ll know where to look....
Better - think this will hold. Got the non heat riser studs for 2, then used 1 heat riser stud. The extra length worked with the nut on top, and I will be able to stabilize to tighten it up with the lower stud. Now just waiting on parts (bracket).
I was hesitant about Allen’s chambered exhaust, I thought it would be obnoxiously loud — and yet — it’s not. Only test fired, idled, and a couple of revs, smooth sounding. Hope to take her out next week, but still need to adjust e-brake and likely swap speedo gear.
Was going to pull and lubricate.... But, this might cause some drag.. And this too.
Oh well, parts hunting I go. At least the black plastic speedo gear is good.
Well, new speedo cable failed drill test. Will likely road test tomorrow, but not expecting much. Good gear, good cable (now). Guess I will dig deeper....
Speedo works, gps tested, accurate. Suspect failed drill test due to key off — d’oh! Hall effect...

Reason: Update
So I have logged some miles -12- now the trip odometer works too. Next up, turn signals. Hazards work, swapped flasher with working hazard - no change. Have new switch, will have to dig into the column a bit, from my you tube and forum searches.
but - need tool E4C0. Some kind of puller - before I dig that deep, I think I might try to hook up the switch before pulling the wheel and such, just to confirm. Don’t know if it’s do able or not, but thinking it might be after staring upside down under the dash for the speedo....will update as able

i also did allens
reused the cat and pipe heat shields to protect speed cable and body...not critical as it dont het as hot as a cat..
Floating turn signal switch test failed. It likely needs a ground, but I did not want to rig one where I thought it should go and cook something else. I don’t know how they git the magic smoke in them wires, but if ya let it out it never works right again...
