Notice anything missing?
Kinda scary. Who knows how long it’s been gone.
anyone know the steering wheel nut size? I can find the part online, but don’t want to pay 10 to ship a 2 dollar part.
pics aren’t currently loading, more to come....

New puller. As before...any reason (excuse) to buy a new tool must be fully exploited.

Nope

Telescopic locking device — dorman 960-115 - pack of 4 (only need one) 5/16”-18x1 1/2” with head removed.

Remove turn signal arm

Like so

Three screws for switch, have to move switch to get the top one

Hazard comes out with small Phillips, spring loaded, guaranteed to go flyin’

Got it back

Wires run thru this chafing protector, tried to pull through - not happening

Point of no return.

Once out, found chafing gear actually slotted...d’oh.

So more detail — less pics. New switch is in, putting the rest of the parts back as they are sourced / arrive. Getting the plastic multi-pin connector down the column was a chore, I managed with a long flat tip at first, then hacksaw blade, some creative language, and a drink...but do able. Biggest concern was damaging the new connector, wound up unbolting the column for more room. You results may vary.
Questions / advice needed- is that hose correct? Please share exploded view diagram w/ part numbers if available. Thanks! Updates as able...

So, fairly confident the missing nut is 9/16-18, based on the puller’s engraving. Will update with confirmation when tested, everything local is currently closed.
Now for some fun. When staring at my car, wishing I could get a missing part - looked again at my cloudy, 1979 gauges. Been considering replacement, have a look:

Hard to say if accurate if you can’t see them...

So, pulled out an old bubba, one I used to freshen up an old RV paint job:

Not perfect, but readable

Cleaned with alcohol wipes, one very light coat. Your results may vary

and unless gloves are worn — shiny fingernails....

But now the horn doesn’t work at all, it used to get stuck on, now nothing. The new kit only came with one shim, and the longer horn pin. I thought the longer pin meant less shims — but...

and the signals, still not working - well, at least I know the switch is new.

Confirmed - steering wheel nut 9/16-18, needs to be thin

will update as able

Got the tach working! Tried repair board, but tach too bouncy. Ebay tach for 160, plus shipping, but nice to have something go right.

in my never ending turn signal / horn quest I am in the process of searching. Pulled all lenses, verified good ground at rear - hindsight says I should have started here, but still digging. Before I re assemble rear, going to clean and polish. Will get some pics up later.

on too the front....

at this point, I want to verify all grounds, rear to front, bumper to bumper. Any good lists of locations? Search helps some..

Stage 2, stage one involved overspray removal and a dishwasher (Mrs. loved that one...)

Closer stage 2

Closer stage 2

Stage 3

Stage 3
Going to catch up the other, so I can compare stage 4 and see if worth it.
