I'm in the midst of refurbishing a Rear Window Storage Tray for my 1970 and began searching for glue or epoxy to re-adhere the rubber on to a couple of the retaining clips. Actually, I'm still looking, but came across Mouldable Glue from a company called Sugru. I did a test and as the name implies, it is (very) moldable and once it cures attaches very securely to the piece of metal I tested it on.
While it is a lot harder than the inner tube consistency of the original rubber used on the clip, it still retains the feel and resiliency of rubber, and may prove more durable and permanent than the lightweight rubber originally used. Anyhow, I'm considering using it for this project.
More importantly, if you're not familiar with it, it may be worth a look as I can see a variety of applications in which it may be of value.
I've used that stuff for a number of different things, including customising the grips on cameras, and it is really good.
But be careful how much you buy, I'm pretty sure it has a "use by" date.
Having just picked up a box, I'm no expert on how well it might work, but it seems like good tough stuff from the test I did. BTW, the box I bought comes with 8 individually wrapped packages and I'll only need a few, so as long as I have extra, if anyone wants one to try out, shoot me a PM with your address and I will drop it in the mail.

I want to try it but have nothing at this time that needs gluing.
