Emission test
If you hot rod a later model Corvette & remove the exhaust system, replace engine without sensors ETC & live in a state or city that has a smog check how do you get it plated.
By putting all the smog stuff back on the car?
With the engine replaced, maybe you need a special permit?
I have read posts on this and other forums of that being a nightmare of paperwork.
It looks like your in Arizona, but in California, you have to take the car to a referee station to have it 'certified'. However, if the engine was replaced, it must be a newer or same year engine, and must have all applicable smog equipment/sensors for the engine year. If not, then the referee station will still fail it.
It's a pain in the @ss. I struggled with passing smog for years until they exempted 75 and before vehicles. If I wanted a hot rod nowadays I'd either buy a new car (they're better than ever but not my cup of tea) or and old car that I could modify.
You need to check the relevant laws in your State / County / City as it relates to emissions standards. Unless someone on this Forum is located exactly where you live, our 'advice' won't really matter to you. It's different EVERYWHERE. Folks talk about how "bad" the emissions standards are in California. That's true in Los Angeles and many of the larger urban areas; but such standards are lessened considerably in more rural areas.
The best advice for you is to understand what the state and county requirements are where you live; and you should speak with the supervisor of your local BMV and/or emissions control site.
From this site https://www.myimprov.com/az-emission...-need-to-know/ Not every vehicle is required to pass a smog test in Arizona. Only residents of the greater Phoenix and Tucson areas, and those who regularly commute into those areas for work or school, are required to have their vehicles pass an emissions test. Alternative fuel, flexible fuel (E85) and hybrid vehicles also require emissions testing. Diesel vehicles are tested for “smoke opacity”, in other words, how much visible pollutants are in the exhaust plume. All vehicles built before 1967 are exempt, as are most vehicles newer than 6 years old, and some other vehicles, including motorcycles.

If you have a 25 year old or older vehicle with collector car insurance & historical plates in AZ, the vehicle is exempt from emissions testing.
Something to condiser; de-smogging a car whether legal or not in your area can limit potential buyers if you ever go to sell it.
I blew the motor out of my 89 fuel injected shop truck and was going to build it a carb'd small block since that would have been substantially cheaper and legal in my area. But after looking into the laws for the surrounding areas (like 20 miles away), there's no way I'd ever be able to sell it to anyone but a neighbor and if I ever moved I wouldn't be able to get plates for it.
I wonder if you installed a newer EFI (carb style) system and a high-flow cat if that would help pass the test. Course you gotta buy/install the stuff.
1. Hagerty or Grundy Insurance. less than 5000 miles yr. Provide paperwork to the DMV
2. Antique plate. (Copper-plate)
3. No emission required. Or safety check EITHER!
