Default Does exhaust wrap cause a burned rubber smell?

I put some black Design Engineering wrap around the exhaust from under the heat shield at the spring mount to a couple of feet back to provide extra protection from heat for the composite spring.

More or less concurrent with that I started noticing a mild burned rubber smell at the rear of the car after highway drives when exiting the car. I know I never noticed it before I put the wrap on. Is there any reason it would cause that kind of a smell? I can find nothing rubbing on the tires themselves. There's no smoke, just the mild odor.

Thanks!

I have Thermo Tec wrap on my 66 and 68. Both have a distinct smell after the cars are running for awhile. It is worse on my 66 because of the side pipes. Jerry

There is a distinctive odor after driving mine also, I have the Design Engineering wrap. Not a rubber smell though but definitely unique. Supposed to dissipate after time; don't know how much time though.

Should have wrapped the spring.

Someone else suggested that but seemed like it might not hold up under the constant flexing given that the wrap is designed to go around pipe.

My wrap took about 500 city-miles to lose the odor. Highway miles would speed up the process.
