Default 69 Automatic Safety Switch adjustments

On my 69 I replaced the shift console and after putting everything back together the engine would not turn over, I thought that I may have accidentally knocked a wire loose on the Neutral Safety Switch so I took everything back apart but found no disconnected or loose wires. During the course of troubleshooting this I found that when in Park if I push forward on the shift lever when turning the key the engine will crank and start. Are these Safety Switches adjustable? Can the contacts on these switches go bad or need to be cleaned?

If it's like my 72 there are two bolts that hold the switch to the side of the shifter and they run in slots to allow you to adjust the position some

Mooser,

This is perfect, Thank you very much! The switch must have been loose to start with, Good to know this should be an easy fix.
