Yellow '71 Project
New member here. I have a 1971 Stingray that I would like to get back into decent shape.
This car has been sitting for a while (as you can see), and is going to need some work. I've lurked around these forums for a while and finally decided I would post a thread.
My first question is this: Obviously someone has put a newer front bumper on this car at some point. How hard would it be/what is the process of getting a chrome front bumper back on this car like the '71 originally had?
Thanks in advance for your help, I'm sure I'll have more questions.
I also have a 71 both chrome bumpers; I like chrome as much as anybody ... but yours looks pretty good as well. Changing it will be a lot of work & expense. Why not clean it up & fix whatever's needed and just enjoy it. Dunno what your motor is but it's far from original. Heads are '86 or newer with aftermarket distributor.& aftermarket intake ... not bad at all but not OE. Rear exhaust outlets have been glassed in to suit Non-OE sidepipes ... looks aok but that ain't OE either. Again, don't sweat the bumper, just enjoy!
future question's answers are often more accurate if we know about where you're located. If you're in USA, how 'bout enter your State into your profile.,

It's a LOT of parts and others have said not cheap-
- grilles - New repos are in the $700 range- would be tough to do all three pieces for under $500 used
- chrome bumper & bumperettes-brackets- on the lowside $1K
Then the body work to match the bumper.
I have a 73 also- and like the rubber and chrome look too.

As much as I would love it to be as original as possible, I’m having a hard time justifying spending the time/money on the bumpers. Maybe later on down the road. Who knows? Need to get it in mechanically good condition before anything else, other than fixing the leak in the passenger window.

The hood is also an add on, you are missing the grill and wiper door. Few more $$$ to replace all that.
